Welcome to the joint website of MarineGasConversions.co.uk, LpgBoat.co.uk and GasBoats.co.uk.

This website is run by Hamble Marine Ltd - a friendly engineering company that has become the UK's largest specialist supplier of marine engine conversion kits and parts to allow petrol-fuelled marine engines to run on LPG/MarineGas from Calor or FloGas - a low-cost, environmentally-friendly fuel.  We also trade under the name Marine Gas Supplies (MGS).

.

Wanted - new marine engineering companies to join our growing group who will convert existing boats to run on LPG.  Contact us for details.

LPG/Gas Boats

Save 65% On Your Fuel Costs!

FloGasIf the price of petrol is spoiling your fun, simply convert to Marine Gas.  Marine Gas is a high performance, low cost, cleaner LPG alternative to petrol for power craft. At less than half the price of petrol is now and diesel soon will be, the cost of conversion can be recovered in less than 2 seasons.*

LPG Boats Marine Gas is available from re-fuelling points at major marinas around the UK coastline. LPG powered craft are quick and easy to refuel, and the risk of fuel pilferage and spillage is virtually eliminated, improving safety.

Hamble Marine Ltd now produces a range of LPG conversion kits, spare parts and service items under the "HambleMEGS" name ("Hamble Marine Engine Gas/LPG System") formerly MGS.

If you are new to the concept of running your boat on low-cost LPG, then visit our Gas F A Q page.

We have now introduced a "Discussion Forum" for you to comment or ask questions etc Forum

Summary Of Benefits:

  • Save over 60% on running costs by converting to Marine Gas
  • Running on Marine Gas gives comparable performance to petrol
  • Cleaner running; exhaust fumes and smoke are substantially reduced (our system appears in the Green DirectoryGreen Directory
  • A dual-fuel engine means easy switching from Marine Gas to petrol
  • As the petrol fuel system is retained, the cruising range is greatly extended
  • Most 4-stroke petrol in-board engines can be converted
  • With a 60% cut in fuel bills, the cost of conversion can be recouped in typically 100 hours*
  • A Marine Gas conversion is a 1/4 of the cost of a diesel re-engine**
  • The electronic management system constantly monitors the engine bay and fuel storage tank areas for any leaks and will shut down the system before they reach a dangerous level
  • Once the installation is completed, no further specialised adjustments or servicing are required except for an annual safety inspection and test by our engineers.

Go to Gas-Installers to find your nearest HambleMEGS appointed conversion specialist.

Why use a HambleMEGS appointed conversion specialist ?

  • All installations are carried out in accordance with the relevant Code of Practice issued by the LP Gas Association
  • All our specialists have a wide experience of fitting and converting engines to run on LPG
  • Only parts and components that are specially designed for marine use are used; not converted car engine parts
  • Convenient locations; normally at or near major marinas or river estuaries.
  • We do NOT use standard car conversion parts - see No Car Kits  for reasons why

Our fitting charge normally includes:

  • Initial survey to investigate feasibility and possible location of major items such as fuel tank, vapouriser and the LPG filler fitting
  • Discussion with Customer of findings from initial survey and agreement on price and date of installation
  • Fitting by trained and competent specialist engineers who, on completion, will fully test the engine management and alarm systems
  • Cost of all materials, labour and Owner's Manual
  • Initial supply of Marine Gas for engine test and sea trial purposes (available only from some conversion specialists.
  • Handover to Customer with instruction session
  • Further safety and engine check 4 weeks after installation.

* Based on 60% cut in fuel bills. A typical 250hp 5.7litre V8 engine consumes fuel at around 80lit/hr at full throttle and around 50 to 60 lit/hr while cruising. The cost of conversion (from £3,000 for a single engine) can be recouped in 100 hours. Cost of LPG is typically 45p/lit. Marina petrol prices vary across the country but are typically £1.15p/lit.

** Based on an average LPG conversion cost of £3,500 and a leading manufacturer's diesel re-engine which could cost up to £15,000.
