Running your boat on Marine Gas/LPG
LPG conversions provide a safe, low cost and environmentally friendly fuel for your boat.
Running your boat on Marine Gas/LPG from Hamble Marine Ltd offers the following benefits:
- Save over 60% on running costs by converting to Marine Gas. LPG costs around 45p/litre whereas petrol typically costs up to £1.50/lire at many marinas. However, consumption of LPG will be slightly higher (around 5% for most of our HambleMEGS systems).
Running on Marine Gas gives comparable performance to petrol.
Cleaner running - environment; exhaust fumes and smoke are substantially reduced - the carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxide and hydrocarbons emissions are all reduced when running on LPG (our system appears in the Green Directory ).
- Cleaner running - engine; LPG contains fewer non-combustible components than petrol. Nearly everything that goes into the engine goes out as exhaust gases, without leaving any efficiency-reducing residue. By using LPG, acid and carbon deposits are reduced, extending the life of your engine.
Most 4-stroke petrol in-board engines can be converted.
With a 60% cut in fuel bills, the cost of conversion can be recouped in around 100 hours.
A Marine Gas conversion is a 1/4 of the cost of a diesel re-engine**.
- Once the installation is completed, no further specialised adjustments or servicing are required except for an annual safety inspection and test by our engineers.
* Based on 60% cut in fuel bills. The cost of conversion (from £3,000 for a single engine) can be recouped in 100 hours. Cost of LPG is 45p/lit. Marina petrol prices vary across the country but are typically £1.40p/lit.
** Based on an average LPG conversion cost of £3,500 and a leading manufacturer's diesel re-engine which could cost up to £15,000.
