There are many different manufacturers and suppliers of Audio Systems suitable for use on a boat; we list here a selection of what we consider to offer the best “value-for-money”.

You can pay less (and will probably regret it) and you can pay more (and may not get much more for your money).

GR200W AM/FM VHF Marine Broadcast Receiver

The GR200 provides you with the full benefit of stereo FM reception, along with SW, MW and LW AM reception. The integrated VHF marine band receiver has been enhanced affording clearer reception under marginal circumstances with the addition of a user adjustable ‘digital squelch control’. As a result of customer feedback, a rear panel input for a personal MP3 player has now been included, a direct connection to the headphone socket enables the MP3 player’s audio to be selected and processed by the GR200.

GD9600 AM/FM radio/DVD/CD/MP3 Player

Designed for flush mounting into bulkheads or dashboards where the rear case of the product is not exposed to any water ingress or moisture. The GD9620 has a semi open rear case to permit heat dissipation generated by operating the system at high volumes for extended periods of time.

The GD9600 has all the attributes expected in a superior DVD/CD/MP3 Player, furthermore it boasts the inclusions of SD and USB inputs and iPod® compatibility.

With all circuitry conformally coated, exposed metalwork protected against the harsh marine environment and contained in a UV stabilised water resistant polycarbonate housing, the GD9600 will ensure many years of reliable service.

GME offers the GD9600 Series stereo in two discrete configurations. For the smaller vessel where exposure to the elements is greater, the fully enclosed GD9640 is ideal. For larger cruisers or yachts where bulkhead installations are preferred, the GD9620 is the perfect solution.

hese value priced, entry level AIS receivers are Digital Yacht’s most cost effective solution for adding AIS to your boat.  The AIS100 is a great entry level AIS receiver for use with existing AIS compatible chart plotters such as the latest Garmin, Raymarine, Navico, Standard Horizon and Furuno units.

Connected to an existing VHF antenna (via a splitter) or dedicated AIS antenna, you can receive all AIS targets within 20 miles of your boat*.

Also available, is the AIS200PRO model, similar to the AIS100 above but with additional USB PC output - allowing simultaneous connection to PC and plotter systems. The NMEA data input has a multiplex facility - connect the NMEA (4800 baud) output of your GPS to the AIS200PRO and it will automatically multiplex (merge) the slower GPS data with the high speed AIS data and transmit everything on the high speed NMEA output (38,400 baud) - perfect for connection to a chart plotter with only one NMEA input. Small black box solution 150mm x 150xx x 37.5mm (L x W x D).

Class B AIS Transponder - Digital Yacht AIT1000

The AIT1000 is a full CLASS B AIS transponder that sends and receives AIS data so your position, course, speed, heading and identity are transmitted to other AIS users as well as receiving other CLASS A and CLASS B data transmissions for viewing on a compatible plotter or PC charting system.  It has a built in GPS receiver to provide compatible devices with a position data feed and a dual channel receiver for the AIS data.

The AIT1000 has replaced the AIT250 and has NMEA+USB output for connection to compatible plotter or PC charting system.  Supplied complete with GPS antenna - our website price is  £525.50 inc VAT (plus carriage) [A suitable VHF antenna is also available at £49.50.]
