Boat Dish

The boat tracking range starts with the Turbo Dish. This unit consists of a small round dish unit, 110mm by 40mm. Inside the tough case is a sensitive GPS receiver and a powerful radio transmitter. Mounting is easy on most boats. For example: just place it above the instrument panel and it can be powered by the 12V cigarette lighter socket.

It requires 10 to 26 volts at around 0.12 of an amp when live (at 12 volts), slightly more on peaks. If the unit is connected to an ignition source, it will go into sleep mode, drawing even less current!

Full details and spec....

Our basic boat tracking unit is the Turbo Dish. This consists of a small round dish unit, 110mm diameter by 40mm (max.) and is available in black or white .

Inside the case is a sensitive GPS receiver and a powerful radio transmitter. With most boats, mounting is easy. For example place it on the instrument panel, powered by the 12V socket, or in the radar arch on bigger boats. It is also possible to hide it under the instrument panel or in the engine bay (this is because most boats are non metallic e.g. fibreglass or wood).  It will, in fact, work behind most GRP/Plastic panels.

It requires 10 to 26 volts at around 0.12 of an amp when live (at 12 volts), slightly more on peaks. If the unit is connected to an ignition source, it will go in to sleep mode, drawing even less current!

For most owners, all that is needed to view the output from this unit, is to connect to the website map using any computer connected to the Internet (preferably broadband). Setting this up on your home computer will allow your family/colleagues to see where you are at all times.

There is also an option for Corporate Users (Yacht Clubs, Charter Companies and other multi-users) of using an 'always on Internet connection' (broadband) and a copy of a suitable mapping program e.g. Microsoft Autoroute. The boat's current position and course taken can then be tracked. Alternatively, using Microsoft Mappoint enables several boats' positions and courses taken to be displayed.
